Reporting Line

Reports to: Estates Manager
Supports: All Estates & Probate roles

Role Purpose

The Estate Administration Assistant provides foundational administrative and operational support within the Estates Administration function, assisting with the administration of deceased estates in accordance with the terms of a Will or the rules of Intestacy.

This is an entry‑level role, supporting the wider Estates teams through the completion of banking, clerical, post handling, data input, and general estate administration activities. Full training and coaching will be provided to support the development of technical knowledge and skills, offering an opportunity to build a career within this specialist area of law.

The role plays a key part in ensuring that estates are administered efficiently, accurately, and in line with internal procedures and controls.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Banking & Financial Administration

  • Assist with banking administration tasks, including processing payments in accordance with procedures and controls.
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail when handling financial information.

Administrative Support

  • Manage incoming and outgoing post, including triage, distribution, and filing.
  • Maintain accurate filing systems and estate records.
  • Undertake data input and estate case set‑up on internal systems.

Estate Administration Support

  • Support the Estates team with allocated estate administration tasks, with appropriate training and supervision.
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of HMRC forms, including inheritance tax documentation, following training.

Team Support & Learning

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Estates & Probate function.
  • Participate in training and development activities to build estate administration knowledge and capability.
